Gallery Afternoon is pleased to present When Time Becomes Poetry, a solo exhibition by Hyeonjin Jeong (b.1993), on view from September 6 to 27, 2025.

Jeong's practice transforms ordinary moments of daily life and subtle inner emotions into visual narratives. With a background in interior design, she brings a strong sense of space into her paintings. The spaces in her works aren't just backgrounds. They carry emotion, and the gestures of the figures draw you deeper into the scene.

She first worked with color pencil drawings, and turned to oil painting, developing a warm, pointillist style that builds depth through color. As the colors overlap and blend, waves of emotion slowly emerge, creating a calm but powerful resonance.

For the artist, color is never fixed. It shifts and vibrates with light and emotion, turning simple moments into something special and poetic. Her paintings invite you in quietly, offering a sense of connection and comfort.

갤러리애프터눈은 오는 9월 6일부터 27일까지 전속작가 정현진(b.1993)의 개인전 <When Time Becomes Poetry_시(詩)가 되는 시간>을 개최합니다.

정현진은 특별할 것 없는 일상의 순간과 내면의 정서를 시각적 서사로 풀어내는 작가입니다. 실내디자인 전공하며 획득한 공간적 감각을 회화로 확장하고 있습니다. 그의 화면 속 공간은 단순한 배경을 넘어 감정이 흐르는 구조체로 작용하며, 인물의 몸짓과 자세는 관람자를 화면의 깊이로 초대합니다.

초기에는 색연필 드로잉으로 미세한 색채의 결을 쌓아 올렸고, 이후 유화로 매체를 전환하면서 점묘 방식의 따스하고 촉각적인 색채 언어로 화면의 깊이감을 쌓는 작업을 이어가고 있습니다. 서로 다른 색채가 교차하고 침투하며 만들어내는 파동 속에서 감정의 결은 서서히 드러납니다. 이러한 색의 층은 정적이면서도 단단한 정서적 울림을 만들어내며, 작가 특유의 '감정의 시간성'을 구현합니다.

작품 속 색채는 고정된 대상의 색이 아니라, 주변 빛과 감정의 파장에 따라 끊임없이 진동하며 확장됩니다. 정현진은 이러한 색의 흐름과 정서적 파동을 면밀히 쌓아 올려, 일상의 순간을 감정적으로 현존하는 특별한 장면으로 응축시킵니다. 완성된 화면은 어떠한 주장 없이, 바라보는 이의 내면에 스며들어 작은 공명과 위안의 순간을 선사합니다.
