Life is Pain…au Chocolat!

<Artist’s Statement>

Life always seems to go in unexpected directions, and keeping a calm, steady routine is harder than it looks. Trying to hold it together feels like stacking round apples-maybe three, four if you’re lucky-before they all fall down. But still, we try. Just like living another day, even if it feels the same as yesterday.

Sometimes, what keeps me going is something small. Like buying a really good baguette from the neighborhood bakery. That tiny thrill before eating it, the joy of picking it out, the comfort of pretty little things, the quiet moments when I pause and put everything down.

It’s those small things that carry me through the day. In that quiet, ordinary life, I feel most alive-and want to keep going.

삶은 늘 예측할 수 없는 방향으로 흘러가고, 평온하게 반복되는 생활을 유지하는 건 생각보다 어렵다. 그것을 애써 지켜나가는 마음은 동그란 사과를 높이 쌓는 일과도 같다. 이렇게 저렇게 잘 올려봐도 겨우 세 개, 운이 좋으면 네 개를 쌓겠지만 곧 무너지고 마는. 그럼에도 괜히 한 번 해보는 것. 어제와 다를 것 없지만 또 살아보는 오늘처럼. 하지만 선명한 한계와 익숙한 좌절 속에서도 내일을 기대하는 그 이유가, 고작 오늘 동네 빵집에서 아주 맛있는 바 게트를 사왔기 때문이라는 게 얼마나 하찮고 또 얼마나 재미있는지. 먹기 전의 설렘, 고르는 동안의 즐거움, 바라만 봐도 좋은 예쁜 것들, 잠시 멈추어 정돈하고 내려놓는 순간들까지. 그렇게 사소한 것들이 나의 하루를 지탱한다. 그 작고 조용한 일상 속에서 나는 내가 살아 있다는 것, 또 계속 살아 가고 싶다는 것을 선명하게 느낀다.
